Do you remember the Sunday school song This Little Light of Mine? In the song, we’re asked if we should “hide it under a bushel”. As children, we all sang exuberantly, “No, I’m gonna let it shine!”
It’s such a simple, yet powerful statement. As children of God, we are still encouraged to lovingly and joyfully let God’s love shine in the world by our words and deeds. By sharing our gifts and our talents, God’s work is accomplished on earth through our hands.
Each year, we are called to let our light shine by entering into an annual Covenant of Membership at Ebenezer. Through this process, we are encouraged to examine the ways in which each of us has been blessed and how each of us shares in the mission of our community. We encourage you to:
- Reflect upon the presence of God in your life;
- Rejoice in the abundance that God has provided for you;
- Respond to God’s love.
We ask you to Let Your Light Shine by returning your completed covenant forms on or before Covenant Sunday, November 15, 2009.
Click on the Covenant Packet link to print a complete set of the covenant forms.
We ask you to keep the puzzle piece and place it in a prominent place so that you can see it each day during the next few weeks. The puzzle piece serves to remind you that your covenant is an important and essential piece to complete our shared mission. It will also remind you that each of us is connected to one another in, by, and through the Body of Christ. You may also write down any unique and personal gifts and talents you are moved to share in the coming year.
Look for the Let Your Light Shine Puzzle at Sunday worship. This puzzle will be on display to keep track of the number of covenant forms returned and help us to remember that we are all connected in the shared mission of our community. We look forward to hearing from you!
Your sisters and brothers in Christ,
The Stewardship Team
